Contributing Writer The Main Street-sponsored Fayetteville Christmas Parade drew an entry of 60 various participants, from walking Christmas trees and beauty pageant contestants to Scout troops and a cavalry. The Fayette County High School band provided the necessary marching music, along with its colorful flag corps. Three "Santa's Choice" awards were given in recognition of the hard work done on the floats. Taking First Place was the Girl Scout Troop 182; Second Place went to the Southern Crescent Alliance for Visual Arts, which includes Fayette, Coweta and Henry counties; and Third Place went to the float put together by the City of Fayetteville employees.
Stated Main Street Sherry Anderson, "I'm so proud of this community, both in the numbers of entrants and the participants who lined the streets with their lawn chairs and watched the parade go by." |
