A 29-year-old Fayetteville woman died Sunday when her car left the roadway and overturned on Ga. Highway 314, according to Fayette County Sheriff's Department reports.

Michelle Leigh Icenhour is the 10th traffic fatality in unincorporated Fayette this year, according to Maj. Wayne Hannah, traffic and training director for the sheriff's department.

The report shows the accident happened just before 6:30 a.m. Sunday, a time that Icenhour's family said it was her habit to go to the grocery store, Hannah said. Preliminary investigation shows the car, northbound on Hwy. 314 just north of Ga. Highway 279, gradually drifted onto the shoulder, struck a stump on the embankment and went slightly airborne, then landed and overturned, he added.

Icenhour was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car and pinned underneath when it landed upside down, Hannah said. The woman was just about a mile from her home when the accident happened, he said.

"At this point in the investigation," Hannah said, "it is not known why the car left the roadway." The accident still is under investigation, he noted.
