*U.S. Rep. Mac Collins has been selected to serve on the Congressional delegation to next week's White House Social Security Conference. Collins, asked to participate by Speaker-elect Bob Livingston, will join 11 other members of the House of Representatives at the conference.

"As a member of the House Social Security Subcommittee I have been involved in the discussion of how to improve the nation's current retirement system," Collins said. "I look forward to the conference as an important step in the process of reform."

The two-day conference will include several panel discussions on the many ideas and challenges of Social Security reform.

Collins represents Georgia's 3rd District, which includes Fayette County.

* Fayette County's designation of Pine Trail Road will as a collector road will change if the County Commission follows the advice of its Planning Commission. The planning panel Thursday voted to recommend that the governing board designate Pine Trail a local road.

Meanwhile, Concordia Partners will return to the Fayetteville Planning Commission Tuesday with its plans for a shopping center at Pine Trail Road's intersection with Ga. Highway 85.

Development plans and a variance request for the center are part of a 17-item agenda that includes a new medical/professional park on Ga. Highway 54 west.
