Air Force Airman Stephanie F. Schmidt has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, Schmidt studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs, and received special training in human relations. Airman Schmidt, a 1998 graduate of Fayette County High School, is the daughter of John and Cheryl Schmidt of Fayetteville. Army PFC Timothy N. Freeland has graduated from the 72-day Ranger training course at the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training phases are conducted at Fort Benning, in the mountains of north Georgia, in the Texas desert, and in the Florida swamps. The course is designed to develop confident and capable small-unit leaders. Freeland, an assistant squad leader at Fort Bragg, N.C., is the son of Jon and Lucy Freeland of Fayetteville. He is a 1996 graduate of Fayette County High School. Army Pvt. Kirsten L. Wildman has entered basic military training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the eight weeks of training, Wildman will study the Army mission and receive instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history and traditions, and special training in human relations. Wildman is the daughter of David M. Wildman of Fayetteville and Dana Conklin of Lompoc, Calif. Army Pvt. Rachel M. Espey has entered basic military training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the eight weeks of training, Espey will study the Army mission and receive instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history and traditions, and special training in human relations. Espey is the daughter of Linda Pittman of Fayetteville and Gerald Espey of Muscle Shoals, Ala. Army Spec. Charles L. Whitetree II has graduated from the 72-day Ranger training course at the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga.
