in need of volunteers Community Literacy Action is a tutoring program designed to help students who have been identified as behind in grade level in reading ability or adults from the community working on their G.E.D. Currently there are more students than volunteers to work with them. Volunteers meet weekly to work with students individually on their reading skills. The training classes use a learner-centered approach focusing on techniques such as word analysis skills, sound/letter relationships and word patterns. Training classes will be at McIntosh High School in Peachtree City from 7-9 p.m., beginning in January. For more information, call Donna Worcester at 770-716-7871. |
