Music, luncheon highlight second Sunday

National Heights Baptist Church in Fayetteville is celebrating the second Sunday in Advent with special Christmas music during the 10:55 a.m. service. There will also be a luncheon at 12:15 p.m., following the service; RSVP is needed. Cost of the dinner is $5 for adults and $2 for children 10 and younger. Children sing for Calvary

The graded choirs of Fayetteville First Baptist Church will be singing Saturday at the church's Christmas party, starting at 4 p.m., for the residents of Calvary Refuge Shelter in Forest Park. The party will be held in First Baptist's sanctuary, 205 E. Stonewall Ave. In addition to the children's performance, there will be a singalong, dinner, reading of the Christmas story in the Bible, and the residents will walk through the church's Advent Journey.

Jesus video web site up and running

The Jesus Video Project, Georgia, had extra cause for thanksgiving this weekend as a major gift of $500,000 was received last week toward the goal of mailing a Jesus video to every home in Georgia this Easter. The group is also encouraging visitors to its new Internet web site under construction, www.JesusProjects.org.

Cornerstone begins new Sunday school quarter

A new Sunday School quarter begins this Sunday at Cornerstone Bible Church, 426 Rivers Rd. in Fayetteville. The adult classes being offered this winter are "Trusting God's Fairness," taught by Mike Wood, and "Hebrews," taught by Ron Cataldo. To kick off the new quarter, doughnuts, juice and coffee will be served to everyone beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Barbecue, youth fellowship highlight weekend

Bethany United Methodist Church is holding a free barbecue on its grounds at 5 p.m. Saturday. The church is at 607 Rivers Rd. in Fayetteville. Then on Sunday, junior and senior high youth are invited to come play volleyball during youth fellowship at the church, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
