ALL GOD'S CHILDREN GOT A PLACE IN THE CHOIR

I have noticed that we human beings are very interesting at one point. We seem to want all others to be, think, act and respond just like we do. Well guess what? Many of us while we do have many things in common, certainly are not like all other people. We often dress differently, act differently, think differently, and perish the thought, might even worship differently. The church has often been described as a "choir." Remember a choir needs sopranos, altos, tenors and basses and someone to turn the pages and organizers, advertisers, directors, bus drivers and someone to clean up all the mess the choir has made.

I can remember a man who sang in a church where I was pastoring and he actually could not sing a note. I mean the "bucket" with which he carried the tunes in even leaked. I mean he spent the money his mother gave him for singing lessons on something other than singing lessons, but I loved to hear him sing (or attempt to anyway) because he had such a Christian spirit. When he sang, his joy for the Lord and for singing came through much louder than any melodious notes he would have uttered. Our Thanksgiving Scripture lesson for last Sunday was Psalm 100 "Make a joyful noise (new KJV says "shout") unto the Lord all ye lands." I truly wish our churches did more "shouting!"

This means that we are to be noisy Christians. I feel that God is saying to us that we are to be noisy about our faith. I had a seminary professor who said "your faith can be personal but never private." If it's private, then I feel we need to go to the alters of our churches and confess that we are ashamed of the Gospel of Christ and maybe don't even realize it.

Are you a singing Christian? Are you a part of the choir of the body of Christ? You're supposed to be. I feel that Psalm 100 is a very interesting Scripture because God, in His infinite wisdom, knew that life would beat us down and that things would not always go our way, and that things would not always be fair and in our favor. Singing and being supported by a larger group "supports" us. It is a fantastic suppport group and God's work gets done in the process.

If we ever find ourselves getting angry with another, believer or a non-believer, we need to remember that as the song says "All God's children got a place in the choir! Some sing low, some sing higher, some sing out loud on the telephone wire and some just clap their hands." All believers and followers of Christ, have a place in God's choir and He has given us all different talents. Praise the Lord! Psalm 100 is very clear. Whatever your talent is be "noisy" in using it.
