Rachel Lester of Fayetteville, a senior at Woodward Academy, has signed a letter of intent to play golf for the University of Kentucky. Last year Rachel led the War Eagles to a regional championship and to second place in the state. She was the low medalist at the regionals and runner up in the state championship. Over the summer, Rachel won the Maxfli Georgia PGA Junior Championship, had two top 10 finishes in the AJGA tournaments and was the only Georgian to compete at the U.S. Girl's Junior Championship.

Rachel visited many schools before choosing Kentucky. "When I was invited to visit Kentucky, I had very little interest in going there. However, I fell in love with the school, coach and team. I am looking forward to attending UK and playing for them." Rachel will play on a golf scholarship for the Wildcats but in the meantime wishes to lead Woodward back to the state championship.
