Education Week State Superintendent of Schools Linda C. Schrenko is recognizing this week, Nov. 15-21, as American Education Week in Georgia. Established as an annual event in 1921, American Education Week is designed to celebrate our schools and salute our educators. It is one of the nation's longest-running annual observances. "American Education Week is a wonderful opportunity to remind people that education is an essential tool for our future," Schrenko said. "I encourage all Georgians to take time out not only to remember teachers and administrators, but also bus drivers, custodians, cafeteria workers, crossing guards, paraprofessionals, secretaries, and everyone else who provides services to our schools. I offer each my sincere thanks and appreciation." For the latest new releases or for more information from the Georgia Department of Education, visit their web site at www.doe.k12.ga.us. |
