A higher perspective?

Letters from Our Readers

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

For those of us born in the 1940s, a double standard was the norm. Women who committed adultery were considered outcasts by society while the men of my generation were programmed to lie about their infidelity even when caught in the act.

The Clinton affair is another wake-up call for Americans. Here we are asked to look in the mirror at our own indiscretions with the opportunity to forgive; that is to give up judgement of ourselves and others.

In this lifetime many will encounter the dark side of the soul or the shadow as described by Carl Jung. With our backs against the wall we reluctantly begin this process. First, a crack in our denial; then comes the anger; followed by surrender and acceptance. At last...healing is achieved.

Sometimes we have to bend the law to save the people and the country.
