Volunteer groups don't seem to really want volunteers

Letters from Our Readers

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

I am writing this letter out of pure frustration. Without naming names, I have contacted several organizations in Fayette County about volunteering and have not been given the courtesy of a return call.

Although I have an MA in clinical psychology, I am presently working out of my field and am interested in volunteering my time in social services. I would think that if an agency is looking for help, they would return phone calls from potential volunteers.

Let me just say this. Many organizations thrive on volunteers. When you, as an agency, hear from someone wanting to volunteer their time, follow through and return calls, or they will continue looking for another organization as I plan to do.
