Peachtree City Mayor Robert Lenox joins metro Atlanta community leaders in a discussion tomorrow on "Beyond the Backyard: New Paths to Regional Prosperity," to be aired on GPTV Friday, Nov. 20, at 9 p.m. Lenox says he looks forward to the experience as a way of sharing Peachtree City's success at managing growth. He adds that as a planned city, "what we started out to do still works well ... we're probably one of the places in the Atlanta area that does the best job of growing without damage." Air and water quality, transportation, economic development, local taxes and a balance between jobs and housing will be items for discussion. The public forum at Georgia Public Broadcasting Corp. is sponsored by the Georgia State University School of Policy Studies. Others on the program will include Governor-elect Roy Barnes; Rep. Kathy Ashe, R-Atlanta; Charles R. Brown, vice chairman of Technology Park/Atlanta; Atlanta City Councilwomen Clair Muller, and Hattie Dorsey, executive director of the Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership. The forum will be televised as part of GPTV's "Appalled by the Sprawl" series at 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.
