William Alan Henry of Peachtree City has served 48 hours jail time for a speeding violation after having used "bad judgment" in deciding to represent himself in his trial before Fayette State Court Judge Fletcher Sams, according to Henry's attorney, James E. Bischoff. Henry, a Delta Air Lines pilot, also will pay a $1,000 fine, perform 20 hours of community service, and be on probation for 12 months. In addition, Judge Sams asked that Henry undergo psychological counseling because of disruptive behavior in the courtroom in the October trial. Bischoff explained that he was hired by Henry for a sentencing hearing Nov. 4. "Mr. Henry has apologized to everybody," Bischoff said. "He is a productive citizen of Fayette County, does a lot of work with New Hope Church, and just used bad judgment when he decided to represent himself. The judge found his apologies to be sincere." Henry was charged with going 57 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone in the spring of 1998. Peachtree City police also are also investigating thefts and property damage at construction sites. At Georgian Park, a window was broken on a building under construction, and on Ga. Highway 74 south a number of plants and landscape materials were taken. In addition, a residential driveway on Interlochen Drive was spray-painted the night of Nov. 5-6, reports show.
