Santa to visit Noel November

A visit from Santa is just part of the fun scheduled for this Saturday's Noel November A Celebration of Trees and Wreaths, the annual fund-raiser sponsored by the Fayette County Board of Realtors.

Martha Hayhurst, a co-chairman for the 1998 committee, announced the entertainment schedule:

* 10 a.m. Santa arrives; he will be available for photos until 4 p.m. A Santa workshop booth will also be available for kids to make gifts.

* 11 a.m. The White Oak Elementary Choral Group, under the direction of Mary Jane Miles, will perform.

* Noon The Barber Shop Quartet will take the stage.

* 7 p.m. Entertainers will include Sally Mikat, Music Alive, Connie King, and others.

The fourth Noel November, a highlight of the Christmas season for the community and one of the Realtors' major community service projects each year, will take place in the recreation department building, located at the Kiwanis Fields on Redwine Road in Fayetteville.

"We are hoping for a large turnout of area residents for this year's celebration," said Michaele Gatheridge, Hayhurst's co-chairman.

A public showing of the decorated trees and wreaths will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by their auction that night. The trees and wreaths featured in Noel November are contributed by local businesses, organizations and individuals. In addition, the festival has always attracted a large group of sponsors who help with the cost of putting it together.

Admission for the day's events is free; for general information on Noel November or ticket information for the evening's auction, call the Fayette County Board of Realtors at 770-461-2401.

Each year, all proceeds are donated to a worthwhile local non-profit organization, and last year the Fayette County Board of Realtors contributed $10,000 to furnish the Asden Johnson Youth Protection Home in Brooks.

The goal for this year's event is the raise a minimum of $10,000 to provide play equipment for the same facility, the Asden Johnson Home.
