Charitable Real Estate Agencies
Not only does the real estate market continue to draw
people from all over to the homes of Fayette and Coweta counties,
they are giving back to the community through various fund-raisers
and charity benefits.
Recently, as well as through the years, the agencies in
the county have participated in everything from tournaments
to home tours to raise money for children.
The offices of Re/Max Results in Peachtree City and
Newnan sponsored a golf tournament Oct. 19 at White Water Country
Club to benefit the Children's Miracle Network through pediatric
medical services provided at Egleston and Scottish Rite Hospitals
in Atlanta.
Other locals also got involved including South Towne Motors
in Newnan, who sponsored a 1998 Buick Regal Grand Sport for
a Hole in One; Griffin Financial Services and Carolyn Ford,
who sponsored prizes on four other hole in ones; and
BancMortgage, who provided photographs for each item.
Over 85 players participated in the tournament and raised
over $5,000 was raised for the Children's Miracle Network.
Prudential Georgia Realty worked with the students of
Oak Grove Elementary School recently and raked in nearly $750 for
the Oak Grove Elementary School PTO and the Sunshine Kids
Foundation during the second annual Oaktoberfest Carnival and
Arts and Crafts Festival.
At their booth titled "Children Helping Children," the team
of volunteers sold homemade Christmas ornaments handcrafted by
the students. The proceeds were divided between the PTO and
the Sunshine Kids, a non-profit organization devoted to helping
kids with cancer leave the hospital and get involved in healthy
outdoor activities.
"The Oaktoberfest was fantastic," siad Carolyn West of
Prudential Georgia Realty. "It was a great feeling to work with
the students who were so enthusiastic about raising money for
their school and the very special Sunshine Kids."
Another local agency, who consistiently supports the
Muscular Dystrophy Association, raised over $67,000 this year.
For the second consecutive year,ERA Jo-Par Realty in
Fayetteville has become the top MDA fundraiser in the ERA
network. Led by broker-owners Charlie and Connie King, ERA Jo-Par
Realty in Fayetteville along with fellow ERA companies, $1.8 million
was raised in 1997.
The Kings recently represented ERA on the Muscular
Dystrophy Association's annual Labor Day Telethon, where they
presented the ERA donation to MDA National Chairman, Jerry Lewis.
"The Kings and ERA Jo-Par Realty truly exemplify the
ERA commitment," said Jerry Smith, ERA Vice President and
MDA National Vice President. "Like our members throughout the
world, ERA Jo-Par is a group of caring real estate professionals who
are not only dedicated to providing consumers with the best in
service, but are committed to serving their community as well."
The Kings also earned the 1997 Ed Bilinkas Memorial
Award, given annually to the ERA franchise that raises the most
funds for MDA.
