Daniel Jackson a Hall of Famer

Fayetteville's Dr. Daniel Jackson, division chairman of Natural Sciences and Nursing at Gordon College, has been inducted into the United States Army Criminal Investigation Command Hall of Fame. Jackson, a retired colonel, served in the Army for 29 years and is credited as being instrumental in laying the foundation for molding three independently operated U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratories into a one-of-a-kind worldwide forensic laboratory system.

Jackson led the merging of the three laboratories, that were once located in Europe, Japan and Atlanta, without compromising capabilities and responsiveness, said officials. The single laboratory is now located at Fort Gillem in Atlanta.

"It is always nice to be remembered and honored by your peers," said Jackson, "and I am extremely excited about being inducted into the Hall of Fame."

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command is responsible for investigating felony crimes of Army interest. The scope ranges from murders to drug investigations to fraud. For eight of Jackson's 29 years with the Army, he served the USACIDC in three positions: commander of USACIL-Europe; the first commander of USACIL; and the USACIDC chief of staff.

"There is no doubt that Col. Jackson left his mark on USACIDC in a manner that will continue to have a significant positive impact on the destiny of USACIDC well into the 21st century," said CIDC officials. "He is most worthy of recognition in the Hall of Fame."

Jackson has also been honored many times for his work at Gordon College, including being named the Board of Regents' Distinguished Professor for Teaching and Learning for the past two years.
