Insurance broker Dennis Hill and Newnan Utilities executive Jeff Strane have been appointed to the board of trustees of Peachtree Regional hospital, joining Dr. Mirza Kajani, who was appointed to the board earlier this year.

In announcing the appointments, board chairman and Bank of Coweta president Steve Stripling said, "These individuals offer distinctly unique perspectives, yet they have in common a deep interest in the future of health care in our growing community."

Peachtree Regional Hospital CEO Linda Jubinsky added, "The counsel of community leaders is fundamental to the charter of the board of trustees. Our vision for a facility that meets both the needs and the expectations of the people we serve requires strong commitment. We are deeply gratified that our board not only shares that vision, it embraces it."

The Coweta County Fire Department has received its first ever custom built pumper. The pumper was built from the ground up as a fire truck by KME in Nesquehoning, Pa. Some of the facts about the new pumper:

· 1,250 gallons per minute pumping capacity.

· 350-horsepower engine.

· Located at the new fire station on Ebenezer Church Road.

The sixth annual Miss Presidential Pathways scholarship pageant is set for Nov. 14 in Newnan. The pageant is a Miss Georgia and Miss America preliminary pageant and features contestants from the 21-county Presidential pathways travel region.

Contestants will compete in interview, talent, swimsuit and evening wear contests. The emcee for the evening is former Miss Georgia Andrea Martin. Martin, along with reigning Miss Presidential Pathways Shana Teel, will be showcasing their talents throughout the evening.

This year's pageant will be held at the Wadsworth Auditorium in the Municipal Building in Newnan and tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.

The Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce recently announced the selection of its officers for 1999.

Bob Register, manager of Atlanta Gas Light's Newnan service center, was selected as chairman of the board, while First Citizens Bank senior vice president Don Phillips will serve as vice chairman.

Farmers and Merchants Bank CEO Tom Dunlap will serve as treasurer, while CPA Mayo Royal, Jr. will continue to serve on the board.

Crain Oil's Joe Crain, Jr. and Georgia Power's Rod Drake were selected as member-at-large for the chamber's executive committee. The new officers assume their positions Jan. 1.
