The Clayton State men and womens soccer team both lost
their games this Sunday against the University of West Florida.
The womens team lost 3-0 and their record drops to 8-7-1 on the
year. The women travel to Huntsville, Ala for their season finale
next Sunday. The men were outshot 26-5 by the Argonauts and
shutout by a score of 4-0. Clayton State drops to 7-10-0 on the
season and will play host to USC- Spartanburg on Wednesday at
3 p.m.
The men and womens cross country team competed in
the Peach Belt Athletic Conference cross county championships
in Jacksonville, Fla. on Saturday. The mens squad finished
seventh overall with 154 points. Tye Walker earned all conference
honors, finishing 14th overall with a time of 27:37. The womens
squad finished fifth overall with 146 points. Freshman Joni
Guffey missed all PBAC honors by one place, finishing 18th with a
time of 20:40.
"We met our expectations on the womens side but fell a
little short on the mens side," Coach Mike Mead said. " We have
one more race left to make our mark on this season." The Lakers
will be running in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional
Championships hosted by Kennesaw State on Saturday. The race will be
held at the Panthersville course at 10 a.m.
