I am most concerned about the letter to the editor that was in The Citizen Oct. 21 with remarks regarding the job I did while serving East Point as mayor. I do not believe in last-minute smear tactics. I'm sure there are many citizens who would not agree with a letter of that kind. Anyway, the letter never said what my "brand of government" was, nor did it state how I "ruined" East Point. Elected for three terms as a councilman and three terms as mayor assures me that the majority of East Point voters supported and approved of my "brand of leadership." My wife and I have been married for more than 40 years. We own a home in Tyrone and our families live here. If elected commissioner, you can bet your boots that I have no intention of "ruining the community." By the way, Ms. Watts, I did not flee East Point. Birds flee my family and I moved.
