I am writing this letter back home for two reasons: one, to tell everyone that I finally made it to the University of Notre Dame and, secondly, to laud Sandy Creek High and its faculty. Well, the road was long and bumpy but it finally led me to my dream to be a student at Notre Dame. I can honestly say that so far it has been everything and even more than I thought it would. The University has so much to offer academically, socially, and spiritually. I do not believe there is a better setting or atmosphere in the world (especially on football Saturdays). Truly, the wait and the hard work have been well worth it. Being a student at a prestigious national university has also afforded me with a heightened appreciation of my preparatory education. While at the "Creek," I was able to obtain the foundation that has allowed me to attend and to excel at a top-notch national university. The solid and well-rounded education that I received has provided me with a deep resource to tap into and expand upon. Also, Sandy Creek's emphasis on technology has continually placed me well ahead of my classmates in preparedness for presentations and internet related research. Moreover, Sandy Creek's vast offering of extra-curricular activities exposed me to many of the same activities that I now participate in. But most importantly, SCHS's dedicated and spirited teachers opened up and fueled my intellectual curiosity which still drives me to this day. It is to these teachers Holland, Cox, Anderson, Clough, and even Gies and others that I congratulate for a job well-done. For,were it not for you all, I probably would not have made it here, and what a tragedy that would have been. Matthew J. Turner
