Citizen article misquoted PTC site developer

Letters from Our Readers

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

I am writing to correct a misquote in your article about our site development in last week's paper (Oct. 16 Peachtree Citizen Review). Although for the most part the article was accurate, I want to clarify that I did not say, "They're always in my pocket."

The inference is that the actions of the planning commission and/or GDOT have cost me money in the past. I should clarify that my dealings with the Peachtree City building department and planning commission to date have been as a design and construction firm. We have worked in conjunction with the city on several projects with relatively few problems and have found them to be fair and reasonable. As for the GDOT, my experience has also been positive.

Please call me if you have any questions regarding the above.

Tiernan & Patrylo Inc.

John P. Tiernan, P.E.
President

[Editor's Note: After reexamining reporter's notes and listening to the city's tape recording of the meeting, The Citizen has determined that a word was changed in combining two separate comments made by Tiernan. In answer to a question from planning commission chairman Julian Campbell about whether Tiernan would be willing to replace landscaping at the front of his property, "because that gets back into your pocket again," Tiernan replied, "That's just it; it's always in my pocket." Tiernan told The Citizen in an interview that his meaning was that all solutions being offered for site plans on his property "would come out of my pocket."]
