Still a source of complaints from neighbors, the Peachtree City Christian Church's site problems will again be on the agenda for the Peachtree City Planning Commission Monday. At the last commission meeting, Jim Dressler represented the church in a discussion about the parking lot lighting at the location on Ga. Highway 74 at Kedron Drive. Neighbors have complained about the church's roof, lighting and other problems since it was occupied in 1994. Dressler said that efforts to reduce glare from the lights toward Walnut Grove subdivision residents had been unsuccessful, though the wattage in the lights on the poles had been reduced from 400 to 250. He added that the 13 30-foot poles are leased from Coweta-Fayette EMC, and persons from that company have told the church they cannot install a timer. The church has a 10-year lease on the lights, Dressler said, but would like to eliminate perimeter lighting, attach lights to the building itself, and time the lights to operate for fewer hours. The issue was tabled Oct. 12 to allow time for a meeting of city, church and EMC officials. Other agenda items for the 7 p.m. meeting at City Hall include unresolved questions on the Booth Middle School bus area expansion, wetlands mitigation at Flat Creek Golf Course, conceptual site plan for World Class Aviation on Dividend Drive and a site plan revision for the Tiernan and Patrylo Building on Hwy. 74. One new landscape plan, for the AMLI apartments on Peachtree Parkway, is set for discussion also.
