Fayette County Sheriff's deputies investigated a report of a bomb in the woods behind Shiloh Mobile Home Park near Peachtree City last week.

Maj. Bruce Jordan, director of the sheriff's investigations division, said deputies found a "fake bomb, a tube with batteries and wires attached to it to make it look like a bomb, but no incendiary or explosive materials were found."

No one was near the device, Jordan said, and the case is still being investigated.

Peachtree City police last week arrested Andrew L. Kline, 40, of Newnan, for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, reports show.

Police Chief Jim Murray said that Kline apparently entered a residence on Robinson Road about 3 a.m. on Oct. 18 and threatened the female tenant. Kline was given permission to enter, Murray said, but the woman called police when Kline threatened her with a rifle.

When police arrived, Kline was arrested and a .243 caliber loaded rifle was confiscated, Murray added. He said the early morning incident apparently was a continuation of an argument at a picnic earlier on Oct. 17.

Peachtree City police also are investigating a motor vehicle theft sometime during the night of Oct. 16-17, when a gray GMC pickup truck was taken from a residence on Dunsnay Way. Other thefts under investigation took place at a storage unit at Westminster Memorial Gardens, a business under construction on Georgian Park, a Rocks Mill residence, Balmoral Apartments and the A&P grocery at Peachtree Crossings, where a checkbook was removed from an unattended purse, reports note.

Also under investigation are five incidents of damage to property, occurring at Clifton Lane, Braelinn Ponds, Robinson Bend Trail, Summit Walk and Forest View, according to reports.
