Industrial development is headed for the western side of Coweta County after a unanimous vote from the Coweta County Commissioners Tuesday night.

Joe Crain will now develop a light industrial park with a variety of industrial and commercial businesses on Ga. Highway 14, near exit 8 on Interstate 85.

The 49-acre tract is adjacent to the Newnan-Coweta Airport, and the commissioners believe the development will help spread some of the growth that has occurred in the eastern part of the county westward.

Planned uses for the property include a motel, a convenience store with two restaurants, a bank and office and warehouse areas. In reviewing the plan, the planning department anticipates 6,885 weekday trips into the center, while weekend traffic should drop off slightly to 6,200 trips on Saturday and 5,038 trips on Sunday.

The department recommended that access to Hwy. 14 comply with all requests from the DOT to insure safety for the general public. Access to old U.S. Highway 29 should also meet all safety standards.

Crain will also have to participate in the resurfacing and paving of Hwy. 29 and possibly help pay for the intersection with Hwy. 14 when traffic warrants.

In other zoning matters, the county also approved two mini-warehouse buildings for Aces Circle. Aces Circles is located behind the Amoco station at Thomas Crossroads and is surrounded by a variety of commercial businesses.
