Webster not spokesman for home school group

Letters from Our Readers

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

We are writing in response to Bill Webster's letter that was published in The Citizen on Oct. 14. First, we would like to correct the phone number that was given in his letter. The correct phone number for the Peachtree City Home School Group is 770-632-0878. Peachtree City Home School Group exists to provide information and encouragement to families who have chosen to home-school.

Second, while we recognize Bill Webster's right to speak out on his opinion concerning education, we would like to clarify that he speaks for himself. Mr. Webster is not a spokesman for the Peachtree City Home School Group nor does he represent the opinions of its membership.

Specifically, we do not view ourselves as adversaries of School Superintendent Dave Brotherton, school board members, or school administrators. On the contrary, we believe that they are conscientious men and women who are doing their best to provide a quality education for the children of our county.

We home-school our children because we believe it is the best choice for our family, not because we are against the public schools. We are grateful to live in a state where parents have the freedom to direct the education of their children, whether that is through public, private or home school.

Dan and Grace Swartz
Peachtree City Home School Group Coordinators
