I just finished reading the article in the Oct. 9 edition of The Citizen Review regarding the matter of the sewer odor in Interlochen and would like to add our support to Mr. Bill Whitehouse's complaint about the odor. We live about half a block up the street from the Whitehouses and can smell the odor on most summer days. And any time we walk or drive the cart path behind our homes on any reasonably warm day or evenings, the odor is practically unbearable. I'm no expert on these matters, but it appears the culprit might well be the sewage lift/pump station (possibly referred to in the article as the "wastewater treatment plant.") That is where the odor is strongest and it is located only a few dozen feet west of the Whitehouse's home along the cart path. The article said you and staff members had been to the "Whitehouse home repeatedly" and didn't detect any odor, but I can assure you that unless these were particularly cool days or you and your staff had severe cases of sinus congestion, the odor is there. The article also noted that you would continue to work on the problem, and we, along with most everyone else on our street and anyone who uses the cart path, will be most appreciative of your efforts to solve this problem.
