The Clayton State mens soccer team lost another heartbreaker in a season of seemingly endless heartbreakers. The Lakers traveled to Augusta last Thursday to take on the Augusta State Jaguars. With less than twelve minutes to go in the game, the Jaguars' Ryan Marshall found the back of the net. The Lakers are now 4-8 overall and winless in the Peach Belt conference. Four of the Lakers' last five losses have been decided by one goal and two of those games have gone into overtime. They play the University of Montevallo in Alabama today at 3 p.m.

The girls team fared better with a 3-0 win over Mount Olive College on Saturday. They were playing without four starters in the lineup and still coasted to the win. It was the first win on the road for the Lady Lakers since Sept. 21, 1996. Freshman Michelle Roberson had two goals in the victory, which was the fifth shutout of the season for Clayton State. Roberson now leads the team in scoring with five goals. The Lady Lakers play today at the University of Montevallo at 5:30 pm.

The cross country squads had a terrible outing on Saturday at the Furman Invitational. men finished 18th while the women finished 18th in the 24 team races. Sophomores Danielle Guthrie and Nike Amondi were the bright spots for the women as they both continued to lower their times. Junior Manny Juarez was only five seconds off of his time for the men while freshman Neil Faulkner lowered his time by an amazing 57 seconds.

Clayton State hosts the Harrier Meet today. Morris Brown College and Clark Atlanta University will join the Lakers and Lady Lakers in the tri-meet. " Ths will be a chance for people in the area to come out and see us run, visit the school and see what we're all about." states Coach Mike Mead. The womens race begins at 4pm while the mens race begins at 4:45.
