New kindergarten director sees

school as ministry to community

First Presbyterian Kindergarten in Peachtree City has a new director, Susan Gilbert, and is opening a new learning center.

Gilbert, who succeeds Sue McEwan, has served as a kindergarten teacher for 10 years and has lived in Fayette since 1977. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Tift College in Forsyth, Ga., and a master's in education from the University of Georgia.

"We consider our school a ministry to the community," said Gilbert. "Each teacher has been gifted with a love for children. We try to provide the best conditions possible for each child's psychological, mental, emotional and spiritual growth." She says she plans to continue implementing programs begun by McEwan, who held the director's position for eight years.

For more information call Michele Bradfield at 770-254-8474. The kindergarten is at First Presbyterian Church, 206 Willowbend Rd., Peachtree City.
