I want to compliment Kay S. Pedrotti for the beautiful job she did in writing the article about Vietnam veterans Doug Field and Ron Martin [Oct. 7]. They are the veterans who met by chance in the parking lot of the Peachtree City post office. They discovered that Martin, a medevac helicopter pilot, had flown Field away from a hot battle zone after 12 of Field's 15 comrades had been killed in a nighttime battle near Tuy Hoa in 1966. I am Ron Martin's ex-wife. We were married for 20 years and have three wonderful children. Ron is one of many Vietnam veterans who came back home, but was never recognized for the services he performed for our country. Thank you for giving him and Doug Field the opportunity to talk about and share their experiences. I believe these two veterans were brought together after all these years for a reason. Vietnam veterans have endured unique experiences that continue to impact not only them but their families as well. We may live in a beautiful city, but the trauma of Vietnam still exists. Our veterans continue to need our recognition and support. Ron and Doug, we thank you. Nancy Hart Shepack
