Fayette's county administrator Billy Beckett has been named a member of the National Association of Counties' Environment, Energy and Land Use Steering Committee by NACo President Betty Lou Ward.

The organization's 13 steering committees form its policy-making arm. Each committee is comprised of approximately 50 county officials who meet several times a year to examine issues facing local governments.

The Environment, Energy and Land Use group focuses on air, water and noise pollution control; solid and hazardous waste management and disposal; the preservation and property use of water resources; energy, and the use of land resources.
