Fayette Planning Commission members approved a minor change to one zoning ordinance earlier this month, but put off action on special construction standards for Ga. Highway 85 and changes to its special standards for Ga. Highway 54 west. Two of the five commission members were absent, and members present said the full board should deal with such matters. "I think we would do well to have the entire board's input at a workshop," said commission member Al Gilbert. "This is important." Commissioners plan to act on the highways 85 and 54 overlay changes at their Nov. 5 meeting after discussing them at an Oct. 15 workshop. The board recommended approval of a change in the rules for animal hospitals and veterinary clinics in commercial, industrial and agricultural zones. Current rules require that structures, pens and enclosures be at least 300 feet from any residential property, but the same rules state that no pens or runs are allowed. The change would allow the clinic buildings up to 55 feet from residential property. That change will go to the Board of Commissioners for final approval Oct. 22.
