Peachtree City's Comfort Suites on Newgate Road and Ga. Highway 74 will convert to Holiday Inn and Suites around the first of November, says a representative of the Noble Investment Group.

Kai Wolter says Noble owns and manages both hotel chains, but the Holiday Inn configuration will allow the company to "increase amenities and enhance our market position" in Peachtree City.

The company plans a restaurant, lounge, room service and a business center, he added. The 88 suites are open for guests now, but the final conversion is expected in November. Ken Kula is the manager of the facility.

Buffer and right-of-way issues at the converted facility were listed by city planners as part of the work projects for future consideration by the Peachtree City Planning Commission. Wolter said that preserving the "wooded atmosphere" of Peachtree City at the site is important to the company also

At last week's regular meeting, City Planner David Rast outlined some of the projects the city staff is working on, to make sure all new growth complies with the city's strict regulatory controls on such things as green buffers, drainage and landscaping.

Rast's report said the staff has approved final site plans for the Market Place retail development at Ga. Highways 54 and 74 and reassured the commission that extensive tree-clearing that has occurred will be corrected with landscaping. The site plan for the GRID Inc. tower at Tiernan and Patrylo has been approved, along with expansion plans for Fayette Rental at Huddleston Road and Fulton Court.

Final plats for two subdivisions, Bridge Park at Aberdeen Parkway and Commerce Drive North, and The Park at Hwy. 74 and Gardner Park, are under review. City staff is looking at preliminary plats for the Southpark International Industrial Park and The Peninsula subdivision on Peachtree Parkway.

Final site plans are also under study for the Peachtree Villas development at Hwy. 74 and Willow Road. An oil change facility is under construction at Peachy Clean Car Wash on Hwy. 54; the oil change element was approved as part of the master plan several years ago, Rast said, but is now being built.

Under study as "conceptual site plans" are the proposals for Metal Forming Inc. at Southpark Drive and International Drive, World Class Aviation on Dividend Court, and McDonald's on Crosstown Drive. Rast also said that construction has begun for phase two parking at the 810B facility at Photocircuits.
