Offshoot Productions offering
workshops for aspiring actors

Susan M. Steadman, Ph.D., artistic director of Fayette County-based Offshoot Productions, has announced the schedule for four nuts-and-bolts acting workshops this fall.

The first workshop, "Learning to act through theater games," is for participants ages 6-12. Set for Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Peachtree City Library, the workshop will teach youngsters about acting basics through the fun and excitement of theater games. The cost is $12.

The second workshop, geared to 8- to 14-year-olds, is "How to create a believable character." The Saturday, Nov. 7, workshop will run from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Peachtree City Library. Participants will explore several important aspects of creating character, including movement, voice and attitude. The fee for this session is $15.

The third and fourth workshops are designed for ages 13 through adult and will be at The Gathering Place in Peachtree City.

"The actor's voice: choices that really work" will take place Sunday, Nov. 8, from 2-5 p.m. This workshop will help performers discover their unique voice and create vocal characteristics appropriate for a given script, style and character.

The final workshop, "Making your character come alive," will be Sunday, Nov. 15, from 2-5 p.m. Participants will engage in lively acting exercises designed to help them get inside a role. The focus will be on realistic drama.

The fee for each of the teen/adult workshops is $18.
