About 200 participants are expected to turn out Saturday morning for the third annual walk for the American Diabetes Association in Peachtree City.

According to ADA spokesman Martha Lynn Smith, registration for the event starts at 8:30 a.m. at Shakerag Knoll near the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, with walkers setting out on their five-mile trek around town at 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided by Ruby Tuesday's upon completion of the route.

This walk is one of four fund-raising walks scheduled in the metro Atlanta area on Saturday. Pledges have increased significantly in three years locally, Smith reported, with the first walk raising $15,000, and last year's pledges totaling $28,000. This year's goal is to top the $35,000 mark.

Last-minute walkers may participate Saturday, Smith said, but will be asked to pledge $75.

Money raised for the ADA is used to fund research, circulate information about diabetes, provide low cost screenings and fund community-based ADA work. For additional information, call 404-320-7100.
