Fayette tax bills on the way

Fayette County Tax Commissioner George Wingo said this week he plans to have tax bills in the mail by the end of this week, now that cities, the Board of Education and the county have approved property tax rates for fiscal year 1999.

Taxes are due by Nov. 30.

Wingo also suggested that homeowners who have moved in during 1998 should contact his office to get copies of their tax bills. "We will, of course, be tracing these properties that have changed hands in 1998 and attempting to forward them to the new owners, but it's a monumental task and if the new owners contact us it will expedite this procedure," he said.
