Last Week: lost to LaGrange 42-7

Key Players: RB Wes Clark, 63 yards on 17 carries, DE Bryan Davis, 7 tackles and 3 assists, Keith Knowles, fumble recovery.

Notes: The Tigers got blown out of the water on both sides of the ball. They could not stop LaGrange's running back Bruce Thornton who rushed for 293 yards in only three quarters of play. Thornton scored 28 of LaGrange's 35 first half points. The Tigers did not advance over the 50 yard line until there was only a minute remaining in the first half. Chiefs come from behind for win

Team: McIntosh Chiefs

Notes: The Chiefs were down by nine points in the fourth quarter. They scored a touchdown, kicked and recovered an onside kick and then scored again with only three minutes remaining. Nathan Bittner had probably his best game of the year at quarterback as he went 5 of 10 for 88 yards, throwing for the winning touchdown with only 17 seconds remaining in the game. An interesting footnote to show the strength of the Chief's defense:A week before in their loss to LaGrange the Chiefs held RB Bruce Thornton 107 yards rushing.

Indians streak continues

Team: East Coweta

Coach: Danny Cronic

Record: 3-0

Last week: beat Newnan 28-9

Key players: RB Marvin Smith had 175 yards rushing and 3 TD's and QB Dantra Clements had 96 yards on 8 carries.TE Mondez Godfrey played extremely well on the line as did Dru Hollman. Derek Holloway led the team defensively.

Notes: The Indians are now ranked eighth in AAAA with big games against Griffin, Fayette County and LaGrange in the weeks ahead. The East Coweta special teams allowed Newnan to get good field position from kickoffs and fumbled a punt which Newnan recovered. Newnan had a lot of time of possession on offense but never produced the points.

This Week: vs Upson-Lee

Patriots remain focused and win

Notes: The Patriots led 35-0 at the half and never looked back. The temporary suspension of Coach Tyre obviously did not affect the team in a negative way as they won for the second consecutive week. Eagle's Landing fumbled on the first play of the game but scored 21 consecutive points in the third quarter. .

It was 7-7 at halftime and the score was not broken until the first minute of the fourth quarter when Henry County took a 14-7 lead. Henry County scored again but the Panthers would not be denied, On the strength of Maddock's rushing and McLaren's arm, the Panthers scored twice going for a two point conversion after a roughing the kicker penalty was called on a missed extra point.

This week: vs Eagle's Landing

Eagles have win in their talon

Team: Landmark Christian War Eagles

Coach: Bill Thorn

Record: 1-2

Last week: defeated Heard County 21-20

Key Players: QB C.R.Palmer played well again and James Barker and Rasaan Davis blocked well on the line.

Coach: Ron Beaucham

The rest of the starters are sophomores with a few freshmen on the offensive line. They lost their first game of the season to Brookstone 32-22. Their home games are either played at Newnan or East Coweta's stadium.
