for coach of Sandy Creek
Sandy Creek football coach Don Tyre began a ten day
suspension without pay on Tuesday for allegedly making improper
physical contact with a player on his team. The incident was said
to have involved grabbing a player by his earring.
Sandy Creek's principal Charles Warr said that it was
his intention that Coach Tyre would resume his duties after the
suspension was served. In a statement released by the
Fayette County Board of Education, they expressed their regret
regarding the incident and have confidence that it will not occur again.
Coach Tyre has expressed his remorse over the situation
and believes the team should suffer no ill effect. Principal Warr
named Doug Crane the interim head coach while the suspension
is being served. Coach Tyre will miss only one game, at
Eagle's Landing, and will return for the Patriots game at Forest Park
on Oct.2.
