Do you like working with plants? Do you enjoy being around people? If the answers are "yes," then you might want to become a Master Gardener.

Master Gardener classes at the Clayton County International Park are being planned for Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30-5 p.m., beginning Jan. 4 and continuing through March 17. A $70 fee is charged for a notebook and other supplies, and 50 hours of volunteer hours to the Extension Service are required. You must be a Fayette County resident to enroll in these classes.

Topics to be covered include landscape design, annuals and perennials, trees, ornamental shrubs, fruit and vegetable gardening, pest identification and control, plant physiology, entomology and pathology, lawn care and more.

For more information about the Master Gardener Program, visit or call the Fayette County Extension Service office, Suite 209, 140 Stonewall Ave., Fayetteville, 770-460-5730, ext. 412.

The deadline for class applications is Friday, Oct. 16.
