Foresters are readywith helpful advice
The Georgia Forestry Commission offers a wide range
of forest management services available to both landowners
and homeowners. They include woodland examinations
and management advice, insect and disease detection and
assistance, timber harvesting and sale advice, Detailed
Management Plans, Forest Stewardship Plans, Tree Farm
certifications, shade tree evaluations and Urban Forestry assistance
to cities.
All these services are free. Timber marking is done for
a nominal charge. The GFC's reforestation program
helps landowners with tree planting projects. It encourages
erodible cropland, idle land, and especially land that has had timber
cut from it, be replanted in trees. Services are available to
evaluate and give advice on planting needs. There are federal
cost-share programs available (through county offices) to
assist with many forest management practices.
