The Georgia Forestry Commission is now accepting orders for pine seedlings to be planted this fall and winter. Application forms are available at all Georgia Forestry Commission offices. Orders need to be placed as soon as possible so gardeners can be assured of the seedlings they want and will need. Seedlings are sold bareroot. Pine species come in packages of 50, 500 and 1,000. The following are pine species available: Improved Loblolly, Longleaf, Virginia Pine, Eastern White Pine, Sand Pine and Shortleaf Pine. Hardwood species come in packages of 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1,000. They include Bald, Cypress, Dogwood, Green Ash, Persimmon, Redbud, Red Cedar, Chestnut Oak, Sawtooth Oak, Swamp Chestnut Oak and White Oak. Also available are the Beautification Pack, which includes 10 select Dogwood and 10 select Red Maple seedlings, and the Wildlife Pack, which includes 10 Sawtooth Oak, 10 Persimmon, 10 Crabapple and 50 Lespedeza seedlings.
