For a taste of authentic Mexican cuisine, try out one of the newest additions to Fayetteville, the San Marcos Mexican Restaurant, located at the Banks Station Shopping Center.

Moises and Maria De Santos opened the restaurant in July 1998 after years of wanting their own establishment.

Mrs. De Santos, who is the head chef, cooks up well over 50 entrees and specializes in varieties of fajitas including "Fajitas Mexicanas," which has sliced steak, onions, tomatoes, jalepenos and guacamole salad; "Texas Fajitas, with chicken, beef, and shrimp; "Fajitas Tapiatas," with chicken, beef, and Mexican smoked sausage; and "Shrimp Fajitas," which has shrimp, bell peppers and onions.

With so many choices on the menu, 30 combination meals offer a sampling of many of their specialties.

The dessert menu includes flan, sopa pilla, fried ice cream and peach jello.

The San Marcos Restaurant is available for take-out and also has a banquet room for large parties.

A full range of entrees appear on the lunch menu at an average price of $4.50 and dinner prices range between $6-13.

For more information, the restaurant operates from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. weekdays, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturdays, and from noon-10 p.m. Sundays or call 770-719-9976.
