* Fayette County workers are gaining in longevity on the job. The county recently presented five-year and ten-year service awards to 31 employees.

Recognized for five years of service were Brian Cook, technician/information systems; Jim George, director of building and grounds maintenance; Emory McHugh, director of finance; and sheriff's office employees Thomas McKennie, investigator; Doug Morris, deputy sheriff; Anthony Rhodes, deputy sheriff; John Routon, investigator, and Kimberly Sinkfield, detention officer.

Recognized for ten years were Michael Bass, assistant information systems director; Diane Blanks, administrative secretary to the tax commissioner; Howard Coleman, equipment operator II/road department; Bettie McAfee in magistrate court; Steve McGovern, firefighter; Mack Mincie, wetlands caretaker/water department; Russell Sharpe, firefighter; Robert Sumner, firefighter; Helen Thornton, tag clerk/tax commissioner; Dennis Tucker, staff sergeant/fire department; Donna Woodie, administrative secretary/building and grounds maintenance; Paul Benefield, deputy sheriff; Michael Callahan, EMS lieutenant station officer; Patsy Coker, tag clerk/tax commissioner; David Duncan, water plant maintenance worker; James Harbin, firefighter; Jamie Johnson, customer service rep./water department; Connie Mitchell, accounting technician/water department; Ronald Moffitt, plant operator class III/water system; John Mountz, firefighter; Harry Orser, investigator sheriff; Steven Spiegel, communications operator/911 system, and Eric Williams, EMS lieutenant station officer.
