Volleyball
The 5th ranked Landmark Lady War Eagle volleyball team
defeated the McIntosh Lady Chiefs 15-10 and 15-8 but lost to
the Marist Lady War Eagles 10-15 and 3-15. There was good play
by . Landmark is now 16 and 3 and will face Heritage and Pace
at Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The Starr's Mill Lady Panthers squared off against the
South Cobb Lady Eagles and Holy Innocents last Thursday at
Lovett High School. Starr's Mill lost to South Cobb 15-7 and 15-10
but defeated Holy Innocents in three games 15-5, 9-15 and 16-14.
The Lady Panthers had excellent serving from Eva Massmann and
Katie Connaughty with good all around play from Lauren Cagle.
Starr's Mill will play top ranked Woodward Academy and Westlake
at Woodward on Tuesday, Sept.8. They will also play in the
Cobb County Tournament starting Thursday at Harrison
High School. The matches begin at 7:15 p.m. against Etowah and 8:00
p.m. against Harrison. On Saturday the Lady Panthers will face
Notre Dame at 8:15 a.m. and North Springs at 10:00 a.m.
The Sandy Creek Lady Patriots defeated the Troup County
Lady Tigers 15-3 and 15-9, last Thursday. The Lady Patriots were
impressive on serving, with Sherry Wilkerson serving twelve in
a row. Tasha Sykes offered good all around play. The Lady
Patriots will play against McIntosh and Northgate on Sept. 8
before facing Creekside and East Coweta at Creekside on Thursday.
