Two-year-old Episcopal congregation growing
Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church, which began in a living room in Sharpsburg with 19 people, celebrates its second anniversary Sunday Sept. 13 as a congregation of 50 families looking for a place to build. The congregation will add 19 more persons to its roster Sunday, bringing total membership to about 150. The church has baptized 37 persons, ordained four men to the Diaconate, commissioned two women into mission ministry, sponsored two missionary trips to Uganda, and married eight couples. In addition, the congregation helps with ministry to a mission congregation in Milledgeville and has supplied a part-time priest to a church in Tennessee. Church musicians have provided praise music at community and church functions, and the two priests serve as law enforcement chaplains. Christ the King meets in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home on Ga. Highway 74, two miles north of Westpark Walk in Peachtree City. For more information call 770-251-2760. |
