Coweta County received a progress payment this week for the repair or replacement of county-owned facilities damaged by record flooding in July, 1994. Georgia Emergency Management Agency Representative Bill Blackwell, acting on behalf of Governor Zell Miller and GEMA Director Gary McConell presented a check in the amount of $41,243 to Coweta County Commission Chairman James McGuffey. Coweta is one of 55 Georgia counties declared eligible foe federal disaster assistance by President Clinton as a result of the flood. Robert Lore has been named to the board of directors of Farmers and Merchants Community Bank. "We are very fortunate to have someone with Bob's banking experience join our board," said board chairman Bob Dunlap. "Not only does he bring a wealth of knowledge from working in all areas of banking, but his track record in community service makes him a perfect fit for our team at Farmers and Merchants Community Bank." Lore was formerly chief executive officer at First South Bank of Coweta County. Prior to that, he worked with First Union Bank where he was senior credit officer for the Newnan office. Newnan Hospital has achieved accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a result of its demonstrated compliance with the Joint Commission's nationally recognized health care standards.
