A "Bark-in-the Park," a one mile walk and animal festival, will be Sept. 26 in Fayetteville's McCurry Park between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sponsored by the Fayette County Humane Society, the event will include the Greater Atlanta Dog and Disc Club demonstration, pet contests, pet portraits and country music singer Lisa Wagner. Entry forms are available from all area veterinarians. Money raised will benefit the Fayette County Humane Society.

Fayette Community Theatre, Inc. will offer two workshops this month at the Peachtree City Library. Advanced registration and payment is required.

The first workshop, set for Sept. 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., is for aspiring actors, ages 6-8. "Let's Create, A Pirate Adventure," will take young buccaneers on a two-and-a-half hour cruise of pirate fun and adventure. Participants will experience music and movement, arts and crafts, drama, story telling and be visited by One-Eyed Sam. The children will also create their own pirate costume to take home. The fee is $25; call 770-251-7611 to reserve a place.

The second workshop is "The Art of Auditioning," for children ages 8-13. Participants will learn the skills and techniques required for an audition. Students will take part in partner scene study, cold reading, theatre games and self esteem building classes. The session will be Friday, Sept. 11 from 5-8 p.m. The fee is $30. The Fayette County Extension Service is now accepting applications for its Master Gardener Program to begin in January 1999. The program consists of classroom instruction in landscape design, annual and perennial flowers, trees, ornamental shrubs, fruit and vegetable gardening, pest identification and lawn care. In return for the training, volunteer gardeners give 50 hours of service to their county extension office. Call 770-460-5730, ext. 412, for more information.
