Thanks to BOE for 8-lane track at McIntosh

Letters from Our Readers

On behalf of the entire McIntosh High School family, I would like to extend our appreciation to the Fayette County School Board in general, and board members Debbie Condon and Woody Shelnutt in particular, for their decision to widen the track to eight lanes during the current renovation.

Since state rules require eight lanes to hold a regional meet, we can now hold those meets here in Fayette County.

I know that money is very tight in the school system at this time, and with the present rate of growth, probably will stay that way for some time. Therefore, it was no easy task to find the extra dollars to add the two lanes, but the Board stayed with it until the funds were pieced together.

Mrs. Condon and Mr. Shelnutt were instrumental in putting this project together, and we are very grateful to them for their help.

A special word of thanks also needs to go out to Mike Satterfield and his crew for the work they have done at the school. Mr. Satterfield has practically lived at McIntosh for the past few weeks, trying to get the stadium area in shape for us to play football last Friday. With apologies to James Brown, I believe Mike may be "the hardest workin' man in Fayette County."

Again, our thanks to the Board of Education for their help with this project. We hope you will come Out and join us for our first track meet.
