Dogs running loose in middle Fayette have caused much grief

Letters from Our Readers

Today my goat Chunky was tortured and terrorized by two black dogs.

This poor sweet old pygmy goat was just living out his final days here on our property minding his own business not ever bothering anyone, could barely get around because of a stroke or arthritis.

Still came running though when it was time for dinner and still fat and happy even though he couldn't get around as good as he used to.

A very soft-spoken goat, very soft voice. Was the father of many babies, who mostly were just like him... sweet and gentle.

Today two black dogs came onto my fenced property and were chewing and tearing holes into my poor defenseless Chunky. He was crying with such a soft voice that I couldn't hear him screaming, and evidently my dogs didn't hear him either. I did hear my horse, though, whinny and having a fit in the front pasture, running up and down the fence line between our two pastures.

My husband and I ran out of the house and found these black dogs chewing on Chunky. I screamed at the dogs, Get out of here! They tore off down the back pasture... with my dogs chasing close behind.

I went to Chunky; he cried softly; he had blood all over his neck, with big gaping holes where skin once was. Poor Chunky.

I wanted to kill those dogs, I really did. But then, I thought, No, it isn't the dogs' fault; it is their owners' fault.

This is not the first time I have seen these dogs... the first time I ran them off our property, there were six big black dogs running together. This was a few months ago. I knew they were up to no good then. The one today looked like a black chow and the other one mixed breed but black also. It all happened so fast...

I want the owners of these dogs to know what their dogs have done. By letting them run loose they almost killed and maybe have killed my Chunky; I won't know for awhile.

I know your dogs will be back, because they have tasted blood and dogs don't forget that taste. I will be ready for them next time, not that I'm going to catch them. No, I'm going to follow them back to your homes and that is when I will confront you with what your dogs have done. Your dogs are vicious killers and need to be put down. Evidently you don't care about them or you wouldn't be letting them run loose.

The area I'm talking about is Ebenezer, Quarters and Ebenezer Church roads. If you live in this vicinity and have black dogs that you know run around this area, please take care of your dogs one way or the other. I can tell you though once they have killed they will do it again.

Your dogs are not out for a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood; they are looking for something to kill, and I do have a few more goats, all very precious to me. Remember, eventually you will be found out and also remember your dogs might be sweet docile dogs in your home and yard but they are killers in mine.

Have to go; my dogs are barking; maybe those vicious killers are back....
