Fees may go up for industrial sewer

BY KAY S. PEDROTTI

The Huddleston Road special sewer district was thoroughly discussed at last Monday's meeting of the Peachtree City Water and Sewer Authority.

WASA General Manager Larry Turner said that about 20 property owners attended, "and they seemed about equally divided, for and against the sewer project." All of Huddleston Road from Ga. Highway 54 to Paschall Road, plus a few side streets, are proposed for sewering, Turner said.

Much of the property is already developed, he added, and on septic tanks. The district would be created to assess property owners to connect to the new system, he said.

Additionally, WASA has discussed its fee structure for such things as inspections and plan reviews, Turner said. The authority has concluded that "we're not recovering from developers what it costs us to do the services," Turner said, so there may be a change in the fees at some future time. The Peachtree City Development Authority Chairman Tom Farr has said a joint meeting will be requested with WASA to discuss the fees.
