Fayette, Coweta dancers bring home the trophies

A number of Fayette County and Coweta County dancers with Doris Russell Studio in Fairburn came home recently from national competitions in Las Vegas and Orlando with prestigious awards and trophies.

In Orlando, the studio's "Attack" group took second overall in junior-line tap, and fourth overall in junior-line jazz. Shannon Brown won second overall for her junior solo in gymnastics, and Hannah Stevenson took second overall for a junior solo in character dance.

Awards in the Las Vegas competition included Jenny Franks, first overall for pre-teen song and dance solo; Andrea Allen, first overall, pre-teen jazz solo; Tameika Green, first overall for teen tap solo; Jessica Morrow and Heather Joyner, silver awards for teen jazz; Jennifer Harris, second overall in teen jazz solo; Joely Pittman, third overall in teen tap solo; Felicia Buice, gold award for senior jazz solo.

The Russell Studio Senior Company took top honors in senior-line tap and jazz. In addition, Kelley Johnson and Jenny Franks were Georgia representatives in the "Miss Dance Educators of America" contests in different age groups.
